Gravitational Contraction of Magnetized Clouds

چکیده

In this paper, the dynamical contraction of magnetized clouds is studied from the run-away phase to the accretion phase throughout. Since the non-homologous gravitational contraction necessitates progressively ner spatial resolution, \nested grid technique" (Burger & Oliger 1984) is adopted. As a result, it is found that out ow driven by toroidal magnetic elds is occurred in the accretion phase, which explains molecular out ows in protostellar objects (see also Tomisaka 1998). In contrast, a rotationally supported disk is formed in a cloud core without magnetic elds.

Gravitational Collapse of Isothermal Magnetized Clouds: Universality of Self-similar Collapse

We study dynamical collapse of isothermal magnetized clouds with two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical simulations. As a model of the cloud, we consider an innnitely long lamentary cloud with longitudinal magnetic eld. An initial model is constructed by adding an axisymmetric perturbation on an equilibrium model. Because of gravitational instability, it fragments into magnetically supercritica...

Collapse and Fragmentation of Cylindrical Magnetized Clouds. II. Simulation with Nested Grid Scheme

Fragmentation process in a cylindrical magnetized cloud is studied with the nested grid method. The nested grid scheme use 15 levels of grids with different spatial resolution overlaid subsequently, which enables us to trace the evolution from the molecular cloud density ∼ 100cm−3 to that of the protostellar disk ∼ 1010cm−3 or more. Fluctuation with small amplitude grows by the gravitational in...

Fragmentation Instability of Molecular Clouds: Numerical Simulations

We simulate fragmentation and gravitational collapse of cold, magnetized molecular clouds. We explore the nonlinear development of an instability mediated by ambipolar diffusion, in which the collapse rate is intermediate to fast gravitational collapse and slow quasistatic collapse. Initially uniform stable clouds fragment into elongated clumps with masses largely determined by the cloud temper...

Kinetic and Structural Evolution of Self-gravitating, Magnetized Clouds: 2.5-Dimensional Simulations of Decaying Turbulence

The molecular component of the Galaxy is comprised of turbulent, magnetized clouds, many of which are self-gravitating and form stars. To develop an understanding of how these clouds’ kinetic and structural evolution may depend on their level of turbulence, mean magnetization, and degree of self-gravity, we perform a survey of direct numerical MHD simulations in which three parameters are indep...
